Abstract

This work studies the wave propagation for a longitudinal wave model which is utilized to describe the dispersion in the circular rod grounded through transverse Poisson’s effect. We apply a well-known wave transformation in order to convert this PDE to an ODE which is written as a Hamiltonian system. Based on the qualitative theory of dynamical systems, we study the bifurcation and phase portrait for this Hamiltonian system. Employing the conserved quantity, we construct some novel traveling waves solution and they are graphically illustrated.
