الملخص

Background: Gibberellic acid (G3A) is a plant hormone stimulates plants growth and development and is used in many countries to increase the growth of vegetables and fruits. It is not clear from previous studdies if it has cacenogenic or anticancer effect.

β‐caryophyllene (BCP) is a plant compound, a member of bicyclic sesquiterpene. In nature, it mainly occurs as trans‐caryophyllene ((E)‐BCP) mixed with small amounts of its isomers.

Aim: We aim to study the antitumor activity of G3A and BCP on colon cancer cell line, HT29, and the triple drug resistant breast cancer cell line, MDA.

Methods: Cell viability and cell cycle activity and proliferation rate will be measured using cell counting and MTT. Cell migration will be evaluated by wound healing assay. Gene and protein expression of various signaling molecules will be estimated using qPCR and western blot analysis, respectively. The possible involved signaling molecules/targets duringcancer progression/inhibition will be discussed.

Results will clarify the antitumor effect of these plants extarct on colon and breast cancer cell lines which will suggest G3A or BCP as potential specific therapeutic for human colon cancer and/or breast cancer that are triple time resistant to chemotherapy.
